In some situations Guest Wi-Fi users might experience a message popping up when trying to login to the Guest Wi-Fi network.
Example
This message usually looks something like this:
It is mostly caused by devices such as smartphones, tablets or laptops that have a www.google.com related homepage or browser. Because our Login portal has to redirect to www.google.com through a different process in order to make our login portal work, google will see this connection type as a so called: "man-In-The-Middle" attack. How ever, this is not the case.
How can I resolve this?
It is not possible to resolve this problem directly but it is possible to bypass this message by clicking on "Advanced", now confirm that you wish to proceed to go to the given website.
When will this be solved?
As of now it is not possible for us and other Hotspot service providers to resolve this problem due to the message being created by a third pary such as google. Once this changes or when we do have a solution, this article will be updated.
How do we secure our Hotspot Wi-Fi networks?
We use the following methods to secure our Hotspot networks to ensure a secure way of browsing for you, your guests and customers:
- Our system offers a DNS based web-content filter to prevent users from visiting 'illegal' websites.
- Our system logs all user connections by mac address for security reasons.
- We log all user connections (Dashboard and wifi guests) for our audit trail
- All our Hotspot networks being broadcast from our Zyxel and or TP-Link type Hotspots offer isolated user connections. This means that users can not see each other or other devices on the Hotspot network.
